Limassol rewards a slow weekend. The old town and the Molos promenade are walkable, the best tavernas are a short hop apart, and when you want a change of scene the wine villages and the ruins of Kourion are a half-hour drive into the hills.
This three-day plan keeps mornings easy and evenings long. Base yourself near the seafront so the marina, the old town and the beach are all on foot, and keep day three free for the drive inland.
Day 1
Morning
Start in the medieval old town with a coffee in the Carob Mill courtyard, then walk over to Limassol Castle, where Richard the Lionheart is said to have married. The lanes around it are full of small workshops, galleries and coffee roasters.
Afternoon
Stroll the Molos seafront promenade with its sculpture park and reflecting pools, then settle on Akti Olympion beach for the afternoon. It is an easy first day to shake off the journey.
Evening
Dinner in the old town. Order a full meze and let the kitchen decide the pace, then take a slow walk back along the water.
Day 2
Morning
Spend the morning at Limassol Marina, the smartest corner of the city, with a swim from the rocks and breakfast on the boardwalk among the yachts.
Afternoon
Drive east to the ancient city of Amathus, one of Cyprus's oldest kingdoms, where the ruins sit right above the sea. Cool off afterwards at the long sweep of Germasogeia or Dasoudi beach.
Evening
Sundowners on a rooftop, then dinner along the Germasogeia tourist strip or back at the marina for something more polished.
Day 3
Morning
Head into the foothills to the Krasochoria, the wine villages, for a tasting of local Xynisteri and Maratheftiko and a wander through stone lanes in Omodos or Vouni.
Afternoon
Drop back towards the coast for the Greco-Roman theatre at Kourion, spectacularly set on a cliff above the sea, then a final swim at Kourion or Governor's Beach.
Evening
Back in town for a relaxed last supper, ideally somewhere with a sea view to send you off.
Itineraries
The numbered stops follow the day-by-day plan above.
